Many thanks to Alex Kiel for sending in this report. Alex is a second claim runner, whose first claim club is the Quakers Running Club.
Earlier this month I had the pleasure, for the first time, of donning a VCAC running vest. For one reason or another it took a while for me to get my hands on one, but I was over the moon when it finally arrived.
The vest proved a great fit (thanks Guy) and on the day I felt super: very pleased to represent the club and all it stands for.
Whereas my time wasn’t what I was expecting, I still got around the course in a very solid 16:08. More importantly though, the vest, which perhaps had never been seen at that parkrun venue in over two hundred events, was turning heads and causing people to ask “What club is that?” A question I was more than glad to answer.
I am very much looking forward to competing in some “proper” races in the new year, where I can wear the vest in a competitive atmosphere.
[I wouldn’t mind a solid 16:08 either, Alex. I’m usually just past halfway at that point! – Ed]
