Sounds like a painful race for Peter Bradley in Cardiff on 1st May but sometimes just getting to the finish is a victory – well done Peter!
‘Tore my lower gastrocnemius muscle at more-or-less exactly 1k. Finished hobbling in 39:05 (chip time).’
26th May and an update from Peter – glad to hear he’s on the mend.
‘Two weeks before the race an old injury recurred (tear at the base of the gastrocnemius if you really want to know) so I did nothing for 2 weeks until the race itself on 1st May.
The injury seemed to have cleared up and I started off feeling fairly confident I’d be able to get round in reasonable comfort, but after 1km the injury came back to bite me and I had to limp the final 4km, or I wouldn’t have been able to claim the money for the charity I was running for (http://tomorrowsgeneration.co.uk). Not good.
Anyway, I got round in 39 minutes.
Today (26.05.2016) I finally got to run again. With an entry already secured for the Cardiff 10k in September, let’s hope the gastrocnemius behaves itself for a while, at least.’
